Mad Mick (aka Taz) spent many years in bike clubs in Ireland before coming over to the UK. After being here for two years and realising that he missed the fun and camaraderie that club life can bring, he decided to set up his own club and so on the 26th of September 2005 he founded Doggs Bollocks Mcc.
By Christmas 2005 regular meetings were being held every Wednesday night. The Hare & Hounds pub in Ruislip Road, Greenford was the ideal choice and it was in the pub that the club celebrated our first New Years Eve with family and friends.
A few individuals have come and a few have gone, but the core membership of the club remains, looking forward to meeting new people, having a few beers and a lot of laughs along the way.
In the middle of the month, the club is approached by representatives of <The Shooting Star Children's Hospice>, The Octopus challenge 2006, which is a charity bicycle ride from the South of France to Notting Hill, needs a few bikers to escort the riders through London. Four of us take up the challenge and have a great time stopping the traffic (working with the police) and the cyclists don't have to worry about traffic lights. There's a photo of the four escorts in the "Miscellaneous Pics" in the <"Photo Evidence"> page.
The club is a year old and celebrate by putting on a two day party. Lots of people drink lots of drinks and everyone appears to have a good time. A load of cash is raised for our adopted charity "The Shooting Star Children's Hospice" through donations, raffles and the bbq takings.
Despite being a relatively small club, we manage to have a party with a band, DJ, raffle and auction, free buffet, a bike show and a bbq. The weekend is a complete success.
All change at the top - Spiller resigns as VP, but remains in the club. Roger (Dodge - Sec) steps up and is new VP. Jayne (Ronnie) is new Sec.
April starts badly ... <Steve King (Stevo)> is involved in a fatal crash.
However, though under very sad circumstances, the <funeral> procession brought together representatives from many of the local clubs in a united ride-out to further cement the family dynamic that we all share in the biker community.
A couple of hundred people turn up to celebrate the life of Stevo at a benefit "do" at the Breakspear Arms.
The bands played for free, the pub put on some food which was also free and ALL the proceeds raised from the entry charge, raffles, auctions and a few sponsored head and beard shaves was handed over to Stevo's partner.
PUP "Skippy" was given a Full Patch and Simon (aka "Wotno") was offered and accepted a PUP Patch
Thanks goes out to everyone who came along and showed their support, we intend to reciprocate!
Check out the <"Photo Evidence"> page for some images from the evening.
At the end of May we decide to close the website for a few days while we consider our position after our President (Skunk) resigns from the club due to personal reasons. All change again at the top! - Dodge is now President and Del takes over as Vice President.
2nd Anniversary party weekend at the end of this month and the turn-out was good considering the sudden termination of a few of the local clubs in our area earlier on this year and the confusion caused by conflicting timings and to some extent, dates on different flyers that had been circulated.
The weather held out for us, The Hoggz were on good form and the comedian - although we weren't entirely sure how well a comedian would go down, seemed to have been reasonably successful.
More money raised for the Shooting Stars Chldren's Hospice ... less than last year but something is better than nothing.
Looking forward to Christmas activities now - Toy Run (maybe) and a Party (probably on 15th December)
Doggs Bollocks Christmas party 2007 - another successful event.
Great band "CRY WOLF" and a couple of hundred people turn up for an evening of music, drinks and general socialising.
DJ Fly holds it all together with a selection of tunes and the evening turns into the morning with quite a few revellers finding it rather difficult to tear themselves away from the bar and go home.
Some hardy individuals brave the weather and camp overnight adjacent to the car park! - respect to you guys, it was 'kin freezin!
New Year approaches and we're getting ready to plan for ride-outs and rallies for the next season, which will be upon us in no time - hopefully 2008 will be the year of the Doggs!
Catch up ....
One member less as Tom gets a free-transfer to try out for another club
Membership drops again as Skippy resigns.
We're in issue 102 of 100% Biker, well - a report of our 2nd anniversary party (back in September 2007) is in there. Unfortunately the heading and the website are misspelt but other than that, it's a 2 page spread and there are a few pics plus a load of words that look suspiciously similar, if not EXACTLY THE SAME as the blurb in the very "Club History" notes that you're reading now.
Two new full patch members - Pete & Denis
We're playing Darts and Pool against a couple of other clubs (The West London Harley Riders & The Triumph Owners Club) - there's a trophy at stake (thanks to WLHR), next year the competition will open up to other clubs - the intention being to keep the socialising going when the weather is crap. 5 games of 301 and 5 games of pool. If you're reading this and you want to get involved, Speak to Dodge (our Pres), or Catweasel (Pres of WLHR - you can get his contact details from the West London Harley Riders website)
Start planning the 3rd Anniversary Party, which will be held at the Breakspear again.
Graham (ROOKe) and Sally-Anne (Nemi) get hitched at the end of August.
Pool & darts seems to have fizzled out.
3rd Anniversary party all planned and ready to go - 6 or 7 trade stalls, a Hog Roast, 2 bands and a DJ. We have a bike show planned with Trophey's but based on last year we're not flowing with confidence that we'll get a great deal of entries.
This year we have T-Shirts to sell for the party and new 3rd anniversary party patches.
"Support" style T-shirts available soon!!
Party went well, AGM to plan.
Loads of "support" shirts sold.
Orders for more in the pipeline - awating blank t-shirts to send to printers.
Darts & Pool competition has new life - finals this month - then arrange a few more clubs to get involved for next year.
We won the Darts / Pool trophy. Doggs = 21pts, WLHR = 20pts, T.O.C. = 19pts, if T.O.C. had won the last Darts game, the competition would have been a 3-way draw with all clubs on 20pts
AGM was held and threw up a couple of surprises, amongst other things 2 members have resigned and potential member has declined a PUP patch. Current membership now just 9.
Nothing much to report other than Del voted in as President on 22nd July, other committee positions still to be confirmed, Another member resigned earlier in the year and we have a new PUP so membership still at 9
Well, in the End 2009 was fairly busy. 4th Anniversary party went well. We have 3 new STRAYS (which is what we now call our PUPS)
We presented a cheque for 500 quid to PETS CORNER, which was 250 quid raised by the 4th anniversary party matched by Darren and June from the pub.
We also did a Christmas Toy Run to Hillingdon Hospital which resulted in us depositing 6 sacks of toys and a cheque for 320 quid.
